Jami Shapiro

DANCE

​Jami is a New York native and Los Angeles transplant with a little bit of everything in between, her dancing touring her throughout 47 states and six countries. She completed her undergraduate studies with a B.A in Dance Performance & Dance Education and a B.S Sports, Art & Entertainment Management from Point Park University. While on international tours with VEE Corporation as a featured role, swing dancer and assistant performance director, she continued her passion for arts administration by completing her M.B.A from University of Phoenix. New York performance credits include: Madison Square Garden with FLO Dance Company, three seasons as a soloist with BEings Dance and three seasons with ASEID Contemporary Dance Company as both a dancer and stage manager. Los Angeles performance credits include: Derek Mitchell’s SYTYCD submission, Hello Kitty Con, Robert McAtee iTunes album release, and a season with OdDancity. As a choreographer, Jami has assisted Cheryl Baxter on Sesame Street Live’s Make a New Friend and Hello Kitty’s KittyCon. She has taught extensively throughout the country, including Point Park University community classes, her alma mater Long Island High School for the Arts and numerous dance studios. Her most recent adventure was with London-based company, Awareness Through Dance, where she spent three weeks empowering the people of Ghana, Africa through dance education, choreography and performance. Currently, Jami has moved to the administrative side of dance where she is the founder and director of the guiDANCE network, helping dance students navigate their way to post-secondary dance education. www.theguidancenetwork.org
